Monday, August 13, 2012 "Walking, Walking and Walking"

MAMMAAA!!! FAMILY!
What is goin on?? I'm glad you guys had so much fun on the cruise! Sounds like Connie's fun just was so overwhelming that the old skirt couldn't stay on hahah! That's funny stuff. This week was Different! Holy... it was super strange but way good! So what it the most different thing is walking... walking... walking... and guess what else? If you said walking you are right! haha So why its so different is because in Mississauga we would go to a busy corner right and wait. Here there aren't busy corners... at all... so we walk EVERYWHERE and look for the people! Its been super different, I go to sleep every night completely wrecked from the day.. its crazy! SO I'm going to talk about the places... so we cover 4 cities. Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, and Guelph haha.. I have been to all but Guelph... and they are all so cool! Downtown Kitchener and Uptown Waterloo are basically right next to each other but at the same time they aren't so that's why they are different cities but at the same time everyone says they are basically one. But they are so cool! Pretty old buildings, modernized and just look super sweet and they are way cool! It looks like Salt lake in a way, but SLC Is better ;) but anyways its really a way cool place! There is one bad thing... There is seriously a bar on every corner haha... like no joke... and the people here are hammered basically 24/7... so they hate us "Mormon boys" and they don't want anything to do with us! But its not that bad.. in both uptown Waterloo and downtown Kitchener there are parks.... both of them are sooo cool! If you can look up Victoria park in Kitchener... oh my! IT AWESOME! We spend a lot of time lookin for people there and are constantly looking for some Spanish speakers!
So currently we are living in this basement but we have to move out of there by next week or so? So I haven't really even unpacked and I don't know the address.... it really is probably easier just to send it to the mission home! So you can do that :) I don't mind waiting haha my patience has grown greatly out here haha! So the ward out here is way cool! Its a branch so its small but they are soooo cool! And everything is in Spanish!!!! so I can practice it up haha! The only bad thing is, is that they all work tons so we aren't able to have them come to lessons which is hard because that makes it better and all of our investigators are like older divorced women so we cant go in! But oh well... the Lord will figure something out! So hahaha yesterday was probably the weirdest experience of my whole mission! we were walking right... and this lady gets out of this car and was like "boys wait! I have something for you!" and she goes off and gives us these prayer papers to be "born again and saved" so we were like what the heck and we were talking with her and she was SUPER crazy haha she started mumbling and saying creepy words and she said it was the gift of tongues and said we had demons in us! So we were like this lady is crazy haha and we were walking away and she put her hand on elder Mejia's head and started mumbling stuff and was "ridding him of the demons" hahha it was super creepy but way funny, I cant really explain it good but it was weird! so after that we were talking with her son too and they were just super weird and said how our church was wrong and some how prayer came up and they asked to pray with us... so she grabbed my hand and we were in this circle thing and me and elder Mejia sat there confused and she was like "father, baptize these boys with your spirit, that they may know they are wrong... etc etc" and her son was mumbling under his breath weird stuff haha so it was weird and me and elder Mejia were laughing towards the end and broke it off and said we need to go, and when we did that she said to elder Mejia "you have 39 demons and you have 69" I was so confused haha... it was the weirdest thing that has ever happened to me, soo please pray for me that the demons will leave me! haha but anyways yeah, its been good, I ask elder Mejia like 30 questions an hour of Spanish things and its starting to make so much more sense to me! I am pretty excited about it! i hope it gets better! Well... i love you all so much! Keep up the good work! You're awesome!

Wednesday, August 8, 2012 "I'm out of Sauga"

Mamasita y familia!

SOOOOO, I'M GONE! I'm out of Sauga :( haha I'm actually happy at the same time but it still kinda it rough! I loved it there! Its way big, lots of people and soooo much diversity! I loved it! Now... I'm in a place called Kitchener! It is TINY haha it really is so small, especially compared to Mississauga! in our area we are covering about 3 other cities and they are Waterloo and uhh... I don't remember the other but yeah, they are all pretty small! It was a lot easier to throw all my things into a bag because I didn't worry about the weight ha ha so that was a plus! My new companion is Elder Mejia! He seems like a pretty cool guy! His family is from Mexico but they live in Seattle right now, but they are still native speakers and it was his first language! So I'm hoping that my Spanish might improve! He speaks WAY fast and it really is way hard to understand but we'll see I guess!

Umm.. yeah I dunno really too many crazy stories! This last week it rained Hippos and Elephants and I was Drenched ha ha! By the time we ran to our car it was a waste because we were dripping wet! So we just kept on tracting and knockin on the doors haha I think people thought we were insane! Some said stuff like "do you ever stop?" haha it was pretty sweet, it was pretty funny too when we would hand them these soaking wet cards and they were just destroyed but still were preachin and spreadin the good word no matter what!!!! One of  the coolest experiences of my mission so far though was going on exchanges with the Zone Leaders again! I was fortunate enough to go with Elder Somerfeldt! He is from Alberta Canada and has been out for just over a year and he is SO awesome! He talks to everyone and works sooooo hard, but makes it fun still! It made me realize we need to let loose and have fun but still be missionaries!!! We had A LOT of lessons and were able to speak with tons of people but one of the coolest things that I've ever done was this... we were able to teach this Hungarian family ok.. a Mother, Father and 11 year old son. The mother and father can't speak English at all and their little boy would translate. But not only that but we had to use Google translation to be able to communicate with them!! It was pretty crazy! So we would translate and teach through that and the little boy and it was just back and forth. We taught them some English in the mean time too but talked about blessings because the mom is prego! I thought she was going to pop right then and there!! She was having contractions and was in a lot of pain and elder Somerfeldt gave the little boy a blessing, then I gave the dad one and after he gave the mom one.... it was SO intense... SO spiritual too! So he dropped the spirit into them and everything... so listen to this, we left and just went and did our thing and we found out the next day that she went into labor and got to the hospital, had the baby and was back home in only 4 hours...... if that's not God's helping hand I don't know what is! It was a testimony builder to the power of blessings and the priesthood for sure! All and all that exchange was one of my favorite ones! They live in this little house with the assistants to the president so I was able to talk to them more! They are way cool guys, and guess what I found at their house?? One of Chase Norton's tags haha! It was pretty cool!

This week was a good one, I love Elder Steele a lot.. ,but now I kind of miss him. He was a good guy for sure, helped me out a lot! But yeah, this is where the lord needs me so yeah haha I better work hard! I hope all is well, I love getting your guys updates! They make me super happy! I'm glad you guys are stayin the incredible family that you are! :) Keep it up! You're always in my thoughts and prayers! I love you :)

Monday, July 30, 2012 "Time is Haulin"

MAAA :)

Yeah time is haulin!! I bought pants last week :) because we were in Toronto and I didn't have my Credit card but these pants were 25 bucks and SUPER nice for that price so... yeah I thought it would hit that offer up! That's awesome about Chase and Jessica! I have told tons of people here I know Chase, he is a legend ha ha no lies, everyone knows him! and I always say he's married now so, they're all impressed ha ha! Um I don't know what you should do with that package though... just because I mean you could send it to the mission office? But I wouldn't get it forever... and I don't know if I'm getting transferred! Because we find out next week! I cant believe it, its haulin on by! But I love it here, its crazy fun! I hope I don't leave Sauga! I got like 6 letters last Monday in the night time ha ha and they were all super good! I have been doing a Gratitude Journal every night and it has been helping SOO MUCH!

This week made me feel just like I'm improving soo much... because at 2 separate times... (I'm not saying this to brag, I'm saying it because I know I still am awful its just nice to know I'm slowly getting there).. but 2 different people said that from the first time until now Ive improved SOO much with my Spanish. The reason I say SOO much is because they used bastante and tanto when explaining it... but still I don't feel like Ive improved too drastically but hey that's a good start. I spoke in church yesterday! It was super fun ha ha! I spoke on my conversion and I told about how one day I went to you mom and said me and kyle are going to be Buddhist and check out other churches... and I don't know if you remember this.. but you said, "You don't need to look around, its right in front of you." and I don't think you really realize how much that effected me... Now that's all I think about.. NO ONE, needs to search... they don't need to go to thousands of churches to feel the right one.. if they read the Book of Mormon.. even if they didn't know the name of it they would know it was the word of God. Its so true and its been such an impact on my life.

This last week we were struggling to find people and getting lessons but the one thing that makes a bad "Number" week to a Good week in general is for sure the attitude.. ha ha like everyday we got bailed on.. and multiple times.. it was the worst week we have had this transfer... BUT it was still a good week. Yesterday we met up with the English and knocked doors for about 2 hours and it was super fun! Another day we met up with them and we went to the busiest intersection in Mississauga and contacted, and it wasn't a matter of getting numbers but setting a good impression of missionaries... we were able to pass out mormon.org cards and invite left and right. We passed probably 500 out at least in a 1 hr and 1/2. But we were talking to EVERYONE... It was SO fun! Just smilin up a storm and being like "HEY! How are you doing?" and just gettin smiles back or "@#^#$*^ OFF" hahaha sorry for my vulgar language! Its really gotten so interesting! Still no baptisms.. We had 3 dates this next Sunday... none are going to be then... kind of depressing but hey.. nothin we can do but figure out another way to get the message across haha!

Alright well... I don't have too many crazy stories or advice except read the BoM everyday and don't settle with the idea that  "you've already read it" yeah you may have "already read it" but the values grow the more you do ha ha. If you read the dictionary once and said "I've already read it" and took a test on the English vocabulary you wouldn't get too good of a result.. its the same thing with this.. no matter how many times you read it, you can find something different haha. Right now I'm reading it with a guide and I'm going SOO SLOW and the Book of Mormon is SOOO Cool.. haha mom just be happy your sons aren't soo rebellious that they make your grey hairs almost turn to the dust like Lehi and Sariah (1 Nephi 18:18 I hope that's the right one!)  haha I love you all so much. Stay awesome and gnarly. You are seriously the Perfect family  and yeah!!! I LOVE YA :)

Monday, July 23, 2010 "Loved Bulk Barn"

Que pasa Calabasa???
This week was Solid and a half that's for sure! We are starting to find more and more people! and starting to realize a lot about the committed ones and the... ha ha not so committed ones! So let me just say 1. Find Jennifer Gee and give her a HUGE hug for me, I LOVED Bulk Barn ha ha its sooooo cool! I loaded up on 15 bucks of pure candy! Still have 5 bucks to go :) STOKED for some SUGAAA! 2.  Last week for P day we went bowling ha ha, I totally suck at bowling, I don't know why I ever go! Its nothing but gutter balls and an occasional 1 pin or 2! But hey it was pretty fun gettin out of the Church steez right? 3 I shaved my legs! Random... Yes... will I be called feminine by some of the family? You can guarantee it.. Worth it? DUH. haha they were like soo nappy long I would look at them and I wouldn't be able to recognize myself! I promise mom if you saw them you'd be in awe! but I don't even know why I'm telling this in a letter its really not that cool! But when I shaved them after it looked like I munched off someones scalp there was so much. Honest.

4. We went to this rib fest thing! INCREDIBLE. It was in Downtown Mississauga and us and the English were like Hey lets hit that up! For me I was just thinkin hey? how many opportunities are you gonna have to be eatin some ribs in downtown sauga? This is a once in a lifetime event haha! So I got this Pulled Pork... OH MY GOSH. My mouth is watering thinking about it. it was SO good! And it was fun, we just walked in got food and left but still it was pretty random so yeah! I don't know why I'm doing this with numbers so I'm going to stop that now! Sooo our current investigators are... well... not doing too great! We have Carlos (we have taught him everything) but now he is bailing left and right, SUPER flaky and its SO stressful because we don't know what we did!!! UHHH haha I wish we could meet just once more and figure this out! Then there is Waldir.. He is super sweet, and just this way chill guy and we committed him to a date! But he didn't come to Church and we haven't been able to get a hold of him in a couple of days! But still its been good with him! I don't remember if I told you about Romeo? But he was one from forever ago and now we are meeting with him again finally and ALSO his wife Carla! Its pretty good, they said they were coming to church but... didn't.... soooo sounds like every other investigator! The only one that came is Guadeloupe. She is sooo sweet! She came to our English class and cant speak one word of English haha, but we have been helping her and she came to church yesterday and it was SO good. We taught her with this member and everything is looking soo good with her! I cant wait to see what happens this up coming week with it! Soo that's whats going one in Sauga.. nothing too crazy but its good!

One lesson this week was, hmm... this one member.... holy heavens haha I'm trying to figure to even explain it because if you weren't there you cant even imagine this.. this member didn't breathe once for 1 solid hour because he was talking so much. Oh my word no over exaggeration either... I started falling asleep I was so bored.... ha ha it was yeah.... super long ha ha... but I also went on splits this week with Elder Snow! AH I love him ha ha its so fun, because he reminds me of Derek Wilde sooo much. He is a fun guy! And it was sweet because we were in our area this time and I was in charge basically and was the only one who spoke Spanish! So I was Speaking soooo much that day! I was STOKED.. I feel like its SLOWLY coming. I mean I'm not amazing but I definitely can talk If I get over my fear of not being able to speak haha. It was SO fun though just being able to go off on it! But HEY I'm going to TORONTO :) Soooo I LOVE YOU!!! And I hope you have a great week! Keep me posted :D Stay smilin!

Monday, July 16, 2012 "Ripped Pants"

MOMM!
FAMILY!
HEY!

So this week was a solid one! Things are gettin solid here in Sauga! So I do this little note card thing every week of things I want to say and so I'm just going to go off for a second on those and then just talk for a second after haha. So we have this guy named Carlos that we are working with.. SOLID... GOLD... He said he needs to get away from his past and everything along those and we are just gettin him rollin! We have taught him the restoration, Gospel of Jesus Christ and The Plan of Salvation. He loved every single one and he went to church last week... only concern is we called him yesterday throughout the day to come to church and didn't answer.. We are hoping nothing is making him just drop us but other than that he is one of the awesomest guys out there! This last week I got to go on travels with this Elder Named elder Yu! He is sooo funny haha, he is this crazy little Asian elder (if you cant tell from his name!) but yeah it was super fun, he has been one of my good friends out here and we really get along well! The travels that we do sometimes are so fun just to see how other people do what they do and see their outlook for all of this work! So that was very fun!

Hahahah soo I have 2 pretty good stories! This week we were out tracting and lookin for some new people to teach and we turned around after this door didn't answer to this crazyyy dude. Straight up one of the most whacked out guys I've ever seen haha. He came up and was like (speaking a million miles an hour when he says this) "Hey are you Jehovah's? or Mormons?" we replied "Mormons, hows it goin?" he explodes back "hey my name is mike, can I have a Mormon bible? I want to go to church! I have read the Mormon bible before, this is my 3rd time, I just need more for my wife and kid!" we respond "oh so have you and your wife been baptized?" He bombards back "No I haven't yet but my wife is in India! I need to go back there and put my name in the ads to get her! and once we come back in 9+ months I will be baptized! Or can I be baptized now? or over the phone in a minute?"........... it was probably the weirdest thing that has happened out here yet haha, and that was like half of the convo.. my fingers are getting bored of narrating so I'm just going to say it was funnnyyy!!

Next story is you know those grey pants the ones that I have had forever? yeah so they ripped.... in the crotch... kinda sucks h aha cause the other ones are like dress pants and I don't wanna wreck them yet! This is the funny part, I hadn't washed them in a while and I kinda was guessing they stunk... so when I was changing them after they ripped I had to take a sniff right? oh my word... instant homesickness... they smelt exactly like football camp pants. I was intoxicated with the nastiness but such a familiarity to it I was almost in tears not only because they reeked beyond measure but because I'm washed up... no more football for me. ha ha pretty gross yes... but still advice for younger people, LIVE IT UP! I miss it so much. The only thing I don't miss is the back pain... because I still have it and its gotten worse... but yeah that really is a problem... ha... but anyways this week was solid! During a lesson I messed up, got corrected by my comp... i was bugged but guess what the guy said... hey man its alright its hard, and you really aren't bad! You sound like an Argentinian! AHHHH Troy!! looks like we are similar after all you passion bucket of mine :) hahah but yeah that's about it.. Oh those whitening stripes I used before my mish? yeah they have this toothpaste of it... totally works! Get it! Its like 3 bucks and so worth it ha ha.

Best advice is this... if ever bummed out, find the positive and keep saying it until you like it. Truly works... truly works! Well I love you guys A LOT! You are seriously awesome! Keep me updated :)

Forever and Always,

Elder Beyer

Monday, July 9, 2012 "Gospel Study Now"

This is Elder Beyer in his new "Toronto Blue Jay's Hat"
MAmMAAA!!!!
HEYYYY!!!! Soo about that ATM thing, sorry!! There is not a Wells Fargo here ha ha! I didn't know what to do soo... yeah... I wont take anything like that from it I will only just buy it! I got a hat in Toronto :) its awesome! These pictures just tell how the trip was and what I got to see and all that jazz! It was really such a cool trip. OOHHH my... SOOO good! We have been doing better here in Mississauga. We have stepped it up and we are finding tons of random people who want to learn more! It has been really hard to get them to progress and come to church but we're working on it! I cant believe this is week 9 in the field for me! The reason I know that is because we do this training course for the new missionaries and its a 12 week program, I am finally to week 9... Crazy... its haulin past my eyes! But recently it has slowed down just because of my attitude for sure. I haven't been too patient with the language ha ha its been super hard to be happy all the time and just not to stress and that's for sure.. it is not easy in the slightest bit... its really so hard to just sit down, focus in on whats important and work.. don't get me wrong I haven't just stopped working and been an apostate missionary ha ha, I have still been working as hard as I can but the thing that is super hard is to do it all the time. And In a sense I think its pretty fake if you are happy all the time ha ha its not possible, you have to get stressed and stuff in order to feel peace and happiness. So I'm working on it right now super hard... Hopefully I'll man up and just quit complaining, but Satan's working hard on me for sure.
I'm soooo stoked to hear about Cars... I cant believe he is Elder Cars :) what a cutie. I am stoked for him to leave and get a little piece away from home, see how much he loves it! But its not anywhere near what a mission is ha ha, he is choosing where he lives and who with and what he wants to do... I don't get to pick really any of those ha ha. But hey its going to work out. We have been working super hard with some investigators lately and they aren't really progressing. Its been crappy in that sense but we have one who is really starting to look solid, his names Carlos and he is from Columbia. He got to come to church yesterday and he really is looking solid. We are working with him for the 29th of July so we will see how that goes! I'm pretty bugged though, cause I was waiting for him in the foyer because he was running late and they didn't bring the sacrament out there... YIKES.... NOT GOOD. I look forward to that remission of my sins ha ha, it always brings me such peace and starts me off on the week super happy... I didn't get it :( I'm pretty sad about that. Lately with everything I have been going back to the second by second, minute by minute ways. Sometimes I just get frustrated and stressed and need to relax. Its been working but hands down the best thing to do is just pray. Just talk and say whats up. Its been helping me a lot and I have been loving it!
I'd say the hardest thing for me is probably the language (That's normal though) and also just being lost in the work. All and all though, its awesome! We went to teach this guy the other day and he wasn't there but 2 of his friends were and we got to teach them, super random! But that was Saturday and the next day one of them came to church! Like Ive said, its starting to explode! Mississauga is awesome ha ha! This letter is a junky one, I don't really know what to say ever because its all a blur, and what not! But we will see in the future what happens! Because I'm pretty sure its gonna be GRAND :) ha ha I love you guys so much! sorry this letter sucks, I don't really know what to say at times! But I love hearing from you guys, its the best thing ever :) Keep working hard! It slowly becomes better! I love you so much! Keep me posted on your lives!
Forever and Always,

Tuesday, July 3, 2012 "Toronto Bound"

Mama! FAmilia!
How is it going? I love all your stories ha ha it helps me feel like I'm still right there with ya and not missing out on all the fun! I love Derek hahaha that's totally a Derek thing to do, what a stud! When I read that I told my district because it was so funny and I was laughing up a storm! Seriously though, that's a total Derek thing. This week has been super good, we have been seeing A LOT more success out here, we have been finding random new investigators right and left. We are pretty excited about the area starting to grow ha ha! SO funny stuff.... hmm oh! This week we actually were trying to have a class thing called "What do Mormons REALLY believe?" and so... No body came, which is alright ha ha but the only thing funny about it was we got a chalk board and went out in front of the church (Its a super busy road!) and wrote on the chalk board to come and stuff, it was just funny cause if you think about it, you seeing some random kids on a busy street with a huge chalkboard telling people to learn about God, we got tons of lookers though ha ha. OH I got a gift card from the Gees! Tell them I love them and its so awesome ha ha, I haven't found the place that its for but I'm searching away for it! So the car has helped beyond all imagine! Seriously, I got to drive it for about 3 days and then they saw that I have 2 speeding tickets... to tell Troy this is all his fault I cant drive here ha ha. The only way I can is if I take like a course thing, I don't really know how to explain it ha ha but yeah so I'm pretty bummed out, I was LOVIN to drive again! It was sooo weird! But we got a Chevy Malibu hahah, we look like straight up business men, rollin up in the Boo and church clothes hahah! Its pretty funny but super great! This week we got a call from this lady to come and speak with her son about his life. He is 15 and she thinks he is doing bad things... so we went and talked to him and we bore our testimonies of how we know what he is going through.. haha I know exactly his shoes... I cant believe how much I hated being with my family, and how much pain I caused um, so me and elder Steele just tried to help them out, it was super spiritual.. So that was last Saturday... Yesterday we went and talked to his aunt and uncle and aunts sister... so we talked about that but also shared the Restoration! It is crazy! We are being blessed with the blessings of people coming into our pathway. This letter is crappy cause I'm writing as fast as possible cause we are going to TOROONTOOO!!! YEAHHHHH!!!! ha ha I'm soooo stoked!! so let me just say this, My Spanish... Crappy.... everything about it... I sound like a 5 year old. Do I care? no. Not one bit. Because I don't need to speak. I just need to bring the spirit and help them feel it even if it sounds like gears grinding together or like how Caden sounded when he used to grind his teeth, haha? But seriously. Its so amazing how I can walk away from a lesson and I know I tried to speak and I know it sounded awful, trust me, my comp always lets me know what I do wrong... ha ha its pretty frustrating at times, but the times I try, are the times I enjoy. I love you all so much! Keep me updated and keep smiling! IT ALL WORKS OUT. Just enjoy it ha ha.
I love you! Forever and Always!
